Project Implementation

The Argos project implementation is being lead by Financial Systems and an implementation team, which includes representatives from each university. The team is currently working on configuring the system and planning the development and rollout of dashboards and reports to meet finance user needs.

Focus groups will be created for each dashboard. They will include participants from each campus who have a variety of user experience, can communicate data and reporting needs, and be creative about how to design an interactive user-friendly experience. The time commitment for focus group participants will likely be one hour per week.

Dashboards in Development

Finance User Turnover Dashboard

The User Turnover Update Dashboard will provide a centralized interface that connects directly to the Banner Finance database. It will allow authorized finance users to input an employee’s outgoing UA ID and replacement UA ID to identify and update all relevant Banner records. This solution will improve data integrity, reduce administrative overhead, and ensure consistency in financial management records across UAA, UAF, and UAS.

Department Fiscal Dashboard

The Fiscal Staff Dashboard will equip department financial staff and managers with real-time visibility into their unit’s fiscal operations. It will support fund and budget monitoring, grant oversight, purchase tracking, payroll allocation planning, exception reporting, and alert notifications. The goal is to have a centralized platform for monitoring and managing key financial activities and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic oversight.

Executive Dashboards

The Executive Dashboard will be a strategic decision-support platform tailored for senior leadership at the University of Alaska, including Chancellors, Vice Presidents, and Deans. It will consolidate financial metrics across campuses and departments, offering a high-level, real-time view of institutional health.

PI Dashboard - Phase II

Phase II of the PI Dashboard is being developed to provide PIs and researchers highly needed tools to develop proposals and create budget projections. It will also show additional finance information that was not in phase I, including proposal history, fund 1 allocations, project income, grant billing, and document look up.

Grants and Contracts Dashboard

This dashboard will give the central Grants and Contracts offices clear visibility into the overall status of all awards. It will provide insight into unbilled and billed balances, closeout statuses, and highlight awards that may require attention throughout the month. The goal is to offer a single, easy-to-use resource that supports staff in effectively managing and monitoring grants and contracts.

Management Reports

This dashboard will provide financial managers with insight into monthly year-to-date revenue and expenditure activity relative to budget. It will also allow for streamlined submission of year-end projections during designated reporting periods. The tool centralizes financial data, improves consistency, and supports informed decision-making.
