DID YOU KNOW ABOUT FRANCE?
Hey there! We’re Daniela and Lucía.
How were your summer vacations? It’s been a long time since we last posted in the Erasmusers blog, and we wanted to bring you a very special article about France and its traditions for you to learn about new cultures.
Are you ready? Let 's go!!
A very well known fact about France is that it has a very sophisticated fashion also defined as French haute couture. If you walk through the stunnings French streets you will find typical outfits such as berets, long coats, suits, sophisticated dresses… Isn’t it fascinating?
They usually use dark colors and shoes and accessories should always be agreed, That’s cool!
Some festive days in France are Christmas, Easter, Labor (1st of May), Victory in Europe day, which commemorates the end of the second World War (8th of May) and the Bastille day, (14th of July) date in which the French Revolution started.
Regarding Bastille day, this is France’s national holiday. This is the equivalent of Independence day in other countries, and it is celebrated in an awesome way. It starts with a stunning parade with torches on the 13th of July at night. But that’s not all. On the next day, there is another parade, a lunch, many performances and entertainment for everyone. It sounds fun!
But, without a doubt, the most impressive part of the holiday is the end. When the day is about to finish, there are dances and, what’s more, FIREWORKS!!
We’ve searched for photos online, and it looks completely beautiful! France’s iconic monuments at night, highlighted by the fireworks’ colourful light make this day a very special date.
“Les Chandeleurs” better known as the day of crepes, actually one of the most delicious dishes! This party is celebrated every year on February 2nd, here they eat crepes by the light of a thousand candles, WOOOOOW!
This came because Pope Gelasius I gave crepes to pilgrims who came to Rome. I want that! Don’t you?
Today crepes are still a typical french dessert. The truth is that they are unique!
Another Calendarian tradition is taking a gold coin while they are cooking the first crepe, and it's assumed that if the crepe falls well in the pan, there will be no shortage of money during the year! It’s so curious and fun!
This is all for today guys , we will be back soon, to have some fun together. We promise!
TOGETHER, WE ARE BETTER

Did you know…? About Poland
Hello! We’re Daniela and Lucía and we’re going to show you two stunning national parks from Poland. We’re sure you’re going to love them!
Ojców national park
This is the smallest national park in Poland at the moment, and it was funded in 1956. The park is located in the north-west of Cracovia, and it is conformed by a valley and it is crossed by the Pradnik river. It has very varied wildlife, and has two castles inside it!
It includes more than 2600 plant species and more than 11.000 animal species!
From our point of view, this park is GREAT. We love how beautiful it is and all of the species that live there in peace together.
Drawa national park
This is another lovely place in Poland. It’s located in the Drawa jungle, in the northwest of Poland and protects part of the Drawa valley. It was funded in 1990. From this park, you can have AMAZING views from the Milky Way, and when we say amazing, it means amazing!
In the clear waters of this park you can find many different species of fish, and also otters and beavers. Some examples of birds living there are the fisher eagle and the osprey.
We think that beautiful places like this need being protected, and also, for the future societies to appreciate it like us, because losing a landscape like this would be a total disaster! To sum up, these parks are dazzling! We hope you enjoyed this post!
Bye!
Turkish museums
This amazing building is the grave of the first president of the Turkey republic, Kemal Atatürk. In this museum, you can see awesome things like a very big wall that represents the history of the Turkish War of Independence. Before going into the museum, you have to cross a road about 30 metres long that has a lot of statues of different animals.
It first opened in 1914 in the Imaret building of the Suleymaniye Mosque Social Complex, one of the most important structures in Mimar Sinan.
This museum has more than 40 thousand items of various categories. It comprises a collection of tiles, ceramics, carpets, Islamic calligraphy and various versions of the Koran.

Did you know…about France?
Hello! We’re María and Paula, from Spain. Did you know that in France there are amazing and very attractive landscapes?
Well, if you didn’t, now we’re going to show you two of our favorite places in France for having a fun time with friends.
Cliffs of Étretat
Well, this is a beautiful place to spend time with your family or friends.
We love that above the cliffs, you can see all the ocean. We could look at the ocean for hours and hours.
This place gives me a lot of peace and I have an indescriptible connection with it.
I know what you’re probably thinking about… why would I want to go to this place?
Yes, it’s beautiful but…there are some plans you can do with your family or friends! Now, you don’t have an excuse to stay at your boring but comfortable house.
Plan 1: Take some books and sit almost at the top of the cliff. Feel the wind on your face and read until you feel inside it.
Plan 2: “I don’t like reading…” Well, this plan is for you. Watch the amazing landscape from the top of the tree, and take some sweets and popcorn there. Then, play with your friends at the beach, and swim in it. Forget all your problems and enjoy life!
Cliffs of Étretat
This place is one of our favorites to visit.
Here, you can see the landscape with your friends or your family, too.
When we see this place, it gives us a feeling of nostalgia.
Imagine swimming with your friends in that river and having a perfect day.
Or maybe, climbing the trees and feeling like in a novel.
You can do unimaginable things there! It is the perfect landscape for an Indiana Jones movie!
Look at the people having fun there, and imagine being one of them.
Do you want to stay bored at your house after you’ve read this?
If you do… What are you thinking about?
You don’t have to go to these places specifically, there are a lot in your country that I’m sure you didn’t know of.
