About
Aka Aka school is a fantastic little school in a rural setting just a short ten minute drive from Waiuku or Pukekohe. Surrounded by farmland and with a supportive community, we boast the best of both worlds! Our modern facilities, experienced, innovative teachers, wonderful playground, forest Fridays, BMX track, ongoing involvement in a wetlands restoration project, and access to the community hall we are able to provide a wealth of learning experiences.
Enrolment
Aka Aka School currently has students from Aka Aka, Waiuku, Pukekohe and surrounding areas. We do not have an enrolment zone and welcome all students to our school.
A bus service is available to and from Waiuku township.
Aka Aka School goes from Year 1 right through to Year 8 giving your child a complete primary school experience.
Information needed when enroling your child:
a copy of your child’s birth certificate or passport as proof of age
a copy of their immunisation certificate (this is in the back of your Well Child book or ask your family doctor for a copy)
medical information including your doctor’s contact details
any legal documents, for example custody or access agreements the school should know about
if you child has been enrolled in early childhood education, their National Student Number (NSN), and ECE leaver’s record
contact details – your family phone numbers and address and someone the school can call in an emergency if they can’t get hold of you.

Uniform
All students are required to wear school uniform. Hats are compulsory in Term 1 and 4. Polo shirts, hats and polar fleece jumpers need to be Aka Aka branded and are available from the school office. Pants, tights, shorts and skorts must be plain black and can be purchased from your preferred clothing outlet. No jeans, caps or other branded clothing allowed.

8:50am Students should arrive at school no later than 8:50 to prepare for the day
9:00am First learning block begins
9:45 - 10:15 Matai and Rimu morning break
10:15 - 10:45 Kahikatea and Totara morning break
11:55 Assembly (Tuesday - Friday)
12:00 Lunch play - all classes
12:30 Lunch eating - all classes
12:45 Third learning block begins
2:10 Afternoon break
2:30 Last learning block
3:00 Home time
Student Absences
Student absences should be reported by 9am each day using the Hero App in the first instance.

In the interests of child safety, parents will be phoned if their child has not turned up at school and we do not know the reason. If your child is away for a lengthy period, please send a note to the Principal explaining the absence prior to the absence. If you collect your child during the day for whatever reason, (sickness, appointments, etc) please sign out at the school office.
