Citations

The IB will accept any citation style, but the expectation is that the citations are done correctly and consistently for the chosen style. AISV has chosen to teach MLA (Modern Language Association) across the grade levels to create consistency among grade levels.

Quoting & Paraphrasing

For style and variety when writing, there are different ways to present information from your sources.

This site does a nice job of presenting the different way to write sentences that include cited content from your sources. Use this as a guide.

Tables...Images, Charts, Graphs, Examples

These visuals are used to enhance and support your writing.

The visuals should include a label, number, caption and/or source information. If source information is not included with the image, it must appear in the works cited. Tables will use Table 1, Table 2. All other visuals will use Fig. 1, Fig. 2.

You will reference the visual in your writing by referring to its label and number (In Fig. 1 we see the effect of Monet's use of brush strokes in oil paints...)
