Twenty members of AISL’s Model United Nations (MUN) team travel to Istanbul from 20-23 February for the twentieth annual session of the MUN Development Program (MUNDP). The conference is held at The Koç School, an establishment that has been hosting this event in Istanbul for two decades. Since its establishment in 2000, the conference has ranked among the best in Turkey and Europe, hosting over 800 participants from 40 schools and eight countries in its last session.
MUNDP is the sole conference worldwide which models the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and each year we set one of the UNDP’s developing regions, each with its own Regional Bureau, as the theme.
This year’s theme has been determined as “the Arab States.” The Arab States face the fundamental issues which the agenda items in MUNDP 2020 have been designed to resolve. The UNDP has, in recent years, been working in the Arab States to develop gender equality, ensure economic equity and growth, alleviate socio-political conflict and resolve environmental issues.
Best of luck and safe travels to our AISL students attending the conference: Abhinav Kumar, Vihaan Chugh, Samiksha Khetan, Mariam Manjang, Lakshmi Gopinathan, Tanish Shishodia, Amish Varma, Rhea Dinesh, Ellie Pearson, Muhammad Kamal, Julius Houterman, Maheer Kirpalani, Omar El Saidy, Allan Magarian, Yasmina Barry, Aya Safieddine, Rohan Senan, Harshvardhan Pinge, Umair Mirza, and Joseph Hobeika.

AISL prides itself as a diverse school community focused on student learning. Personal presentation is a value as is noted in our policy on appropriate dress. The intent of the AISL elementary, middle and high school Uniform Expectations are to ensure that all students are “conservatively” attired in a manner befitting the AISL private school setting. This includes hair color. As a friendly reminder, hair color should be natural. If a student chooses to color his/her hair (including hilights), then the following guide can be used to ensure the tone is appropriate and acceptable for AISL standards. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_hair_color
We appreciate your understanding.
