Steps for Starting a Project
Steps for Starting a Project
Here is a logical order for brainstorming and starting your project:
Reflect and Explore
What are your skills, interests, and/or talents? Have conversations with friends, family, teachers, advisors, and your CAS Coordinator. Look through the previous projects for inspiration.
Align with Strands + Learning Outcomes
Once you've found something you are interested in, ensure that it falls under one or more of the strands (C, A, or S) and that it meets some of the Learning Outcomes. You do want to choose between 3-4 Learning Outcomes.
Run the idea by your CAS Coordinator
Before spending time writing your Project Proposal form, share your idea with your CAS Coordinator to receive verbal confirmation that it could work for a project.
Complete the Project Proposal Form + the Project Investigation Form
You and your group members can collaboratively complete 1 Project Proposal form for the project. You do not need to complete it individually. For Service projects, you need to complete the Project Investigation form using the MISO process to ensure that your idea is needed/wanted by the community you are working with.
Submit the Project Proposal Form + the Project Investigation Form to your CAS Coordinator
Share a copy of both forms with your CAS Coordinator via Google Documents and send an email to let them know that you've submitted both docs. Wait for approval before starting your projects.?
After approval, continue with the Five CAS Stages
At this point, you should be somewhere in Stage #2 - Preparation. Work through the stages, including reflections throughout.
