This course is designed as an introduction to the engineering profession. Students will learn about the primary fields of engineering and explore the design process from conceptual design to prototyping and project construction. Students will use 3D modelling design software to help solve authentic problems and will participate in a final “Design Challenge.”
English for Business Communication is an elective course for students in grades 10 and 11. The course prepares students to use professional English communication in a business setting. Not only are the lessons covered designed for learners who need to take their communication abilities to the next level, but also, students will gain essential communication skills when socializing, telephoning, presenting, taking part in/leading meetings, and negotiating, especially in the work field. The emphasis is on building confidence and language fluency by teaching students to analyze real-life work tasks, get exposed to real-life situations, and engage in several practice activities and scenarios.
A variety of topics are covered that include but are not limited to:
Cross-cultural understanding, presentation techniques and preparation, holding the audience's attention, making meetings effective, interrupting and handling interruptions, negotiation types, bargaining and concessions, dealing with conflicts, business idioms, writing formal emails, formal/informal language.)
The Grade 11 & 12 Study Hall is designed to offer a supportive environment for juniors and seniors to advance their academic pursuits. During this period, students will have the opportunity to focus on their studies, complete assignments, and prepare for upcoming exams. This course aims to provide a quiet space for students to enhance their learning ensuring they are well-prepared for their final high school assessments and ready for the challenges of post-secondary education. Enrollment in the Study Hall is a privilege, underscoring the student's commitment to academic excellence and personal growth as they transition towards their future educational and career goals.
