Wellness Tips - Teenagers!
Get some sleep.
Getting enough sleep helps you grow and develop normally, pay attention throughout the day and maintain overall health. For teens, this means about 8-10 hours each night.
Focus on your strengths.
Take some time to think about what you’re good at and ways to do more of those things. By focusing on and building your strengths, you can keep your stressors in perspective.
Do things that make you happy.
Find activities or hobbies that make you happy and incorporate them into your daily life. This might be a physical sport, an artistic outlet or spending time with family and friends.
Engage in physical activity.
Exercise takes our mind off stress and releases chemicals in our brain that make us feel better. This can be anything from a stroll in the park to a bike ride or basketball game with friends.
Talk to someone.
It can be hard to manage stress alone. Talk to a parent, teacher or other trusted adult about your problems and they may be able to help you find new ways to manage your stress.
The girls volleyball season came to a close this past weekend with a final round of Friday Game Day's as the Senior's challenged the Underclassmen to another match. The Senior's were able to win their final match in the Tiger Den with some excellent serving and aggressive play.
From my point of view, the girls volleyball season was very successful. The numbers in the program were outstanding both on Varsity and JV as 27 players completed the entire season. Along with that, it was clear that the teams truly developed chemistry and cohesiveness. The season was highlighted by our Friday Game Day's, where each week the challenge got bigger. We started out with some internal competitions like a 3v3 and 4v4 tournament and then in the last few weeks were able to play a competitive and balanced game against the Boys J.V. team and a strong female teachers team.
One focal point this year was how we were working to improve our Tiger Truths individually and as a team. This culminated with the following three team awards/medals: Aarzoo Savla (Supportive), Fara Santonja Chiapello (Engagement) and Haryeong Lee (Integrity).
The team looks to keep our numbers strong next year but it will be tough to replace our eight amazing Seniors. Congrats on a great season, Tigers!
