Welcome to Middle School! This is one of the most unique times of your life. It will be filled with new knowledge, exploration of interests, changes personally and especially ups and downs in friendships. The middle school team is excited about working with all the students to help them reach their fullest potential. Exploratory classes (one each quarter in grades 6 and 7, and in grade 8 - one for a semester and two for a quarter)
The exploratory classes include art, music, design technology and drama.
Students do have the option of taking band for a semester in lieu of 2 of the exploratory classes
More information on choosing options will come soon.
Students have a 25 minute advisory class everyday. They are assigned an advisory with nine other students. This allows for small group interaction and discussions.
In advisory, the advisor is the first point of contact for any concerns with the student. The advisor also helps the students to organize themselves and develop positive work habits.
In advisory, students will also learn about and discuss a variety of social emotional topics. These include mindfulness, growth and development, friendships, empathy, digital citizenship, healthy habits and much more.
We hope with the small group environment students start to develop closer connections and find trusted adults they can openly talk with.
