There are several exams that students will want to take in order to be prepared for college admissions and to ensure they have as many options as possible.
Most colleges in the US—including those that are test optional—still accept SAT test scores. Together with high school grades, the SAT can show your potential to succeed in college or career.
Often times, universities in Latin America will accept a student's SAT score in lieu of taking their Prueba de Aptitud Académica.
What is the SAT?
The SAT is a standardized college admission test widely used in the United States, assessing a student's readiness for college. It tests knowledge in reading, writing language, and math, with an optional essay section. The SAT scores are used by colleges and universities to make admission decisions, providing a common data point for comparing applicants.
Administration at AISB
At AISB, we do not offer the SAT directly. However, AISB Primary is a testing center and offers the exam all throughout the year, allowing students multiple opportunities to achieve their best scores. Students must create an account on www.collegeboard.org and register themselves (the college counseling office cannot register students directly). The SAT is crucial for students aiming to study in the US, as it plays a significant role in college admissions and scholarship considerations, helping students showcase their academic potential.
What is the PSAT?
The Preliminary SAT (PSAT) is a standardized test administered by the College Board and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in the United States. It serves as a practice version of the SAT and is used to determine eligibility for the National Merit Scholarship Program. The PSAT tests skills in reading, writing, and math, providing students with an opportunity to prepare for the SAT and gain insight into their academic strengths and areas for improvement. By taking the PSAT, students can identify areas for academic improvement, practice test-taking strategies, and receive feedback that will help them excel in future standardized tests.
Administration at AISB
At AISB, we administer the PSAT 8/9 to students in 9th grade and the PSAT NMSQT to 10th and 11th grades each October. Students should sign up and pay for the test in June.
Universities that offer degrees in English generally verify an applicant's level in the language through one of the following exams. Some universities accept IB English test results instead of the test. Confirm with the individual universities about what tests or verification they require. What is the TOEFL?
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is a standardized test that measures the English language proficiency of non-native speakers. Administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS), it assesses reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills. TOEFL scores are widely accepted by universities and colleges in English-speaking countries as part of the admission process.

AISB primary is a testing center for the TOEFL exam for students whose first language is not
English and who plan to study in English-speaking countries. Students must register on their own

critical requirement for admission to many universities and colleges abroad, ensuring our
students are well-prepared for their academic futures.
What is the IELTS?
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a standardized English language proficiency test. It's used to assess the English language skills of non-native speakers who wish to study, work, or migrate to English-speaking countries.
