Strengthening Academic Staff Development in Mathematical and Statistical Sciences
The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) is a pan-African network of centres of excellence for postgraduate education, research and public engagement in mathematical sciences.
Since 2008, AIMS South Africa has created a research environment that focuses on integrating research with postgraduate training and developing young researchers; and providing a space for mathematical scientists to work together and interact with local and international researchers within their focus framework
Following the success and experience gained so far, we are pleased to be able to continue building skills in the basic sciences through the provision of the following opportunities to South African PhD students:
- Theoretical Foundations in Data Science Programme
- Attendance at AIMS South Africa Workshops
- Attendance at Special Courses
- Research in Pairs Visits
These opportunities are funded by the Teaching Development Grant provided by the Department of Higher Education and Training and overseen by the University of Pretoria.
