Please read the e-mails and booklets we send you, very carefully, and if you have any questions or doubts, contact us, otherwise, please reply that you acknowledge the information.
Please always click “Reply all” when you reply to an e-mail.
Please never start a new e-mail chain, always write in the e-mail chain where you got the “Welcome to Hungary” e-mail.
Please send us your Whatsapp number and the Whatsapp number of your AIESEC coordinator in your home country.
If any data changes, you need to let us know immediately, in email
If you do not receive a reply in 48 hours, feel free to text us on WhatsApp (again), as we are receiving a lot of e-mails, so some of the e-mails may get lost in our mailbox
You can feel a big cultural shock, homesick or lonely, but we can help only if you tell us. So if you have any mental issues, feel free to contact us, even if you just want to talk to someone, we’re open for that as well.
In the e-mail chain, everyone is cc-d who can help you in anything, so the best shot is to send an e-mail to this chain, and drop a Whatsapp message. Also, in the first e-mail you can see the name of the local committee and the person responsible for your internship.
(Possible local comittees: BME, Közgáz/Budapest University, KVIK, PSZF, Külker)You are in the preparation phase if you have been accepted to an opportunity by a partner company of AIESEC in Hungary.
Get in touch with AIESEC in your home country, sign the internship contract and pay the fee. You’ll also need to take part in an Outgoing Preparation Seminar with them.
This is the document that proves you are actively enrolled in a higher institution. Request a student certificate from your university. You can find more about Student Certificate here.
Make sure to bring 2-3 original copies with you, since you need to give 1 to AIESEC. Before this step, we cannot start preparing your VISA documents. In case you are not enrolled in a university course currently, you can apply for an ENEB course. More about it here.
If your passport is not valid until at least 3 month after the expected finish date of your internship, you need to renew it ASAP. Please inform AIESEC in Hungary about it, and send the new Passport data as soon as you can.
If we sent you a link to apply for an opportunity again, it’s not a mistake, it’s because of administrational reasons, so please do so as soon as possible.
Please fill the form we sent you in email with your personal data. Please fill it very carefully, if you’re not sure in something, ask, because we’ll fill all your legal documents according to this form.
Some common mistakes:
Mother’s name: We need your mother’s full maiden name, so her given name, middle name, and family name when she was born, so not after to marriage.
Permanent address and current address: Your permanent address is your official address, what is on your travel documents. It can be the same as your current address if you live there. Your current address is always where you live currently.
Passport data: When you give us your passport number and expiry date, please make sure that your passport is valid until at least 3 months after the expected finish date of your internship.
You need to have a health insurance for the full period of the internship. We recommend Terrawind, as we have a partnership with them. You can find information about it in this booklet.
You’ll recieve an invitation from AIESEC in Hungary to an Incoming Preparation Seminar, where you can ask your questions and get more informations from an AIESECer.
Depending on your country of origin, there are 3 ways to enter Hungary. Please visit this website for more information or turn to your experience manager.
You need to find accommodation for the full period of the internship. On this website, you can find every information about accommodation in Hungary.

Please send us your flight details as soon as you have it, so we can arrange an airport pickup for you. You need to buy a ticket to the Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport.
You should know some basic things about Hungary before arriving. If you would like to learn more please visit our Living in Hungary site.
You should also know, that if you are enrolled on a university course in the European Union, then if you request an International Student Identification Card, you can use several student discounts (such as BKK student transport pass). More here: isic.hu
AIESEC will support your arrival either with person who will guide you from the airport to your accommodation, or in an email with a detailed step-by-step guide about which buses, trams or metrolines you should take.
In case you don't need the airport pickup for example because your friend will be picking up or something like this, please let us know in advance in email.
We only provide in-person pickups if your plane arrives between 8:00 AM or 8:00 PM. If you arrive outside of these hours, then you will receive our email guide. Please make sure to share Hungarian your accommodation's address with us!
Unfortunately, despite of our greatest efforts, sometimes we cannot provide the in person pickup. In this case we still give you detailed information on how to get to your accommodation in e-mail.

After you have your final accommodation, you can apply for your Residence Permit (only if your entry case is 90 days).
You’ll recieve an invitation for this seminar as well. It’s pretty similar to the Before-Arrival Incoming Preparation Seminar, but it explains the after-arrival to do’s in a more detailed way.

Once you received your Residence Permit (either temporary or permanent), you can start working at your employer.
An AIESEC member will contact you to meet and escort you to your workplace on your first day of work. This member will prepare, and give you to sign the Statement of Understanding and the Student Status Declaration. You’ll need to give your Student Certificate to the AIESEC member as well. If this can’t happen for some reason, you’ll still need to deliver the documents, in this case, please contact AIESEC to discuss the best way to deliver them. Please be cooperative in this regard, as it’s a very important requirement to ensure your legal stay in the country.
You’ll also need to sign the internship contract on your first day of work. Make sure you sign it in the right place, and with a blue pen.
Please make sure you arrive on time, because otherwise, you’ll miss the onboarding, which is a very important step in your process.
Please make sure to respect the rules of the company and your project (example: the dress code) and pay attention to the business language.
Make sure to have your alignment space with the company about the job decription, working hours, first and last day of work, any changes, personal goal setting.
If you want/need to break the contract, make sure to communicate with AIESEC and the company at least 30 days before, because if you fail to do that, you need to pay a financial penalty.
You must have a Hungarian bank account that you can receive your internship grant to. Please check out this site for more information.
In case of any safety issues (health issues, accommodation malfunction, workplace issues, harassment, etc.) this is the way you can ask for support:

AIESEC in Hungary will organize events during your internship, where you can get to know other AIESEC interns, and AIESECers as well, so make sure to check your inbox regularly, because you’ll recieve the invitation in e-mail.
