Q : Can I walk instead of running?
Yes of course. Walking for Half Marathon requires conditioning and practice to avoid injuries. Although primary focus is on training for running, the conditioning, warmup, cool down cycles are the same for running and walking. We will form a team of walkers. In 2022 we had a good number of walkers.
Q: Can I do a 10k instead of a half marathon?
Yes. The training is tuned for Half Marathon. However we can adjust the mileage for practice runs to suite 10k. Please discuss with your coach after you signup.
Q : I have done multiple races and do not need training. Can I participate in fund raising without coming for training?
Yes ofcourse. Please send us a note at aid.cincinnati@aidindia.org. We will help you setup a fund raising page for yourself. Training is meant to help novices and to have a community of like minded runners.
Q : I travel for work and can not participate on some of the weekend runs.
Once you signup for training, we will share the routine on a weekly basis. We request that you follow the routine on your own. Practice runs can be on your own, if you can not join the group.
Q : Are there any group activities during the week?
The main group activity is one weekend long run. We will explore creating smaller groups that can practice together during the week.
Q: Will there be water stations and food for practice runs
A water cooler or water bottles will be available at start of the run to fill your bottles. Cups will be available for those who do not have a bottle. We recommend carrying your bottle or hydration backpack during long runs.
Sometimes volunteers bring in Tea/coffee and light breakfast. Most of the weekends runners meet at a nearby coffee shop for post run coffee or breakfast. AID does not provide breakfast at the end of the run
Q: I do not live in the Mason area. Can I join and follow the sessions virtually
Yes anyone is welcome to join. Training plan will be published on a weekly basis. Please consult with your coach if you have questions.
