AICS Secondary Library IB Curriculum

MYP 1–3 Students
Students in MYP 1–3 come to the library once a week for research training and reading activities.

MYP 4 & 5 Students
At the end of MYP 4, students propose a Personal Project (PP) that they will complete in MYP 5.

What is the Personal Project?

How does the library help?

MYP 4: Students will prepare their PP proposal and conduct their initial research with the Teacher Librarians.

MYP 5: Students will finalize their research, review in-line citations, and create their Works Cited list for the PP report together with the Teacher Librarians.

Service Opportunities:

MYP students may complete part of their Service as Action (SasA) in the library as a Student Librarian.

The library is also in discussions with local author/illustrator groups on additional service opportunities. Stay tuned!

DP Students
Students in DP1 begin work on their Extended Essay, which they complete in DP2.

Theory of Knowledge

AICS Teacher Librarians and Theory of Knowledge (TOK) teachers collaborated to create a section of recommended reading specifically to support TOK students.

Service Opportunities:

DP students to fulfill part of their Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) requirement by working with the library. However, the activity must also involve organizations outside of the school. If you are a DP student and you are interested, please speak to a librarian for details.

Teaching & Learning—Recommended Reading

Our Teaching and Learning (T&L) section offers teachers multiple copies of recommended reading for professional development related to the IB curriculum.
