Student Librarians: Secondary students can help meet the needs of the AICS community by performing their IB service requirement (SasA) in the library as a Student Librarian. An IB service project should be challenging and provide opportunities for collaboration, problem solving, and decision making. That is why Student Librarians have a combination of set tasks and chosen tasks. In order to complete the IB service requirement as a Student Librarian, the student will need to commit to a minimum of 10 hours of service in the library, but more time may be requested.
Set tasks (minimum of 5 hours)
Shelf organization
Circulation
Labelling
Chosen tasks (minimum of 5 hours...to be preapproved)
Create displays and promote events and/or resources
Build our read-aloud video collection
Design your own digital poster library (with QR codes)
Communicate with the AICS community to expand our World Languages collection. (We are particularly interested in Hebrew, Chinese and Russian speakers.)
Take control of the Library Social media account for a week
Make a display to promote CAS ideas for students
Propose your own idea for library improvement!
Student Librarians must have their applications approved by the service coordinator and the teacher librarian before they may begin their service work in the library. Times to complete the service requirement are to be agreed in advance between the student and the teacher librarian.
Interested? Contact us and let us know who you are, what grade you’re in, who your service coordinator is, and what you would like to accomplish as a Student Librarian. We look forward to hearing from you!
