Abington Heights teachers are dedicated and devoted to the success of their students. Especially during a time of great fiscal challenge, Abington Heights must balance the need to provide competitive total compensation with the needs of our taxpayers who ultimately pay the bill.

Abington Heights teachers have the highest average salary of all school districts in Lackawanna County... #1 of 10 (Pennsylvania Department of Education & Scranton Times, 6/25/17).

All Abington Heights teachers are entitled to top-of-the-line family health care insurance. Teachers make no contributions $0 to offset the costs of their premiums.

Abington Heights teachers are eligible for individual/spouse health care insurance upon retirement until reaching Medicare eligibility. Retirees and their spouses make no contributions $0 to offset the costs of their premiums.

The Abington Heights School Board is offering raises to all teachers. The Board has taken a stand that it is long past time for teachers to contribute to offset the costs of their premiums. In addition to no premium contributions to offset costs, deductibles and copays are low. The union has set a strike date of September 12, 2017.
