Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) 9 combines Honors English 9 curriculum with the AVID program. AVID students will learn and apply study skills and learning strategies to help them succeed in all classes, preparing them for advanced classes throughout their high school career. AVID 9 students visit colleges, hear from guest speakers, and engage in tutor-facilitated study groups. The AVID focus on WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading to Learn) naturally fits with the English curriculum, and the English curriculum is modified to make it college and career focused.
AVID 9 is a 3-trimester course: 1.0 English credit and .5 AVID Elective credit.

Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) 11 is a year-long elective course (1.5 elective credits) that prepares students for college readiness and success. The rigorous, college-preparatory curriculum includes tutor-facilitated study groups, motivational activities, and academic success skills. Juniors will prepare for the college application process, researching and visiting colleges, hearing from guest speakers about college and career topics, and building their resumes.
Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) 12 is a 2-trimester elective course (1.0 credit) that prepares students for college readiness and success. The rigorous, college-preparatory curriculum includes tutor-facilitated study groups, motivational activities, and academic success skills. Seniors will have support with the college application process: essay writing, financial aid information, applications, scholarships.
