The 2017 A Level pass rate was 99.5%. The various destinations of last year’s students are listed on the following pages.
Year 13 students attended Community Involvement placements, assisting at various organisations including Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Booker Park School, Calibre Audio Library, Bucks Goat Centre, Aylesbury Youth Action, many charity shops, the Natural History museum in Tring and Florence Nightingale Hospice.
Three students gained places on the Oxford University/Sutton Trust Summer School and seven students were Reading [University] Scholars.
We ran sessions on driving education for all Year 12 students to increase their awareness of the features of, and need for, safe driving, including a visit to the ‘Safe Drive, Stay Alive’ presentation at the Wycombe Swan. We also ran three Get in Gear Driving courses.
Students completed work shadowing, including working at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, the Meteorological Office, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory and Volkswagen UK. One student attended the University of Cambridge Law Conference and three were involved in the 'Pathways to Law' programme at the University of Oxford. Others went to Berkhamsted School for Medicine and Law Taster sessions.
We visited Birmingham University and held a Higher Education Fair as part of our comprehensive and wide-ranging higher education programme for all students. Year 12 students had the option to take part in Centigrade career analysis. A ‘Future Success’ Day was held in July for Year 12 students, using speakers from various universities. Students attended taster courses at various colleges at the University of Cambridge and University of Oxford, and a large number attended taster courses at universities in London and elsewhere.
A Level Art students visited galleries in Paris and London. Modern Language students went on exchanges and trips to France, Germany and Spain, and we also have links with a partner school in India, with our fourth trip scheduled for February 2018.
Medicine and Veterinary Science taster courses at Nottingham and London Medical/Veterinary schools were attended by interested Year 12 students. We also organised an evening for aspiring medical students and their parents.
