Landscape Solutions for Today & Tomorrow
Our Hurricane Relief Trip was a success! We cannot thank you all enough for everything you donated, all of your encouragement, sharing the posts and getting the word out - all of it! We may have only been able to spend one day in the hard hit areas of WNC but it was enough to know that these supplies are so very needed and we couldn't be more proud of our community and our neighboring communities for stepping up and making this happen! Check out our Blog for more details on the trip!
Please continue to support the organization we partnered with, if you're able. Mountain Rescue NC is a new non-profit, just created since Hurricane Helene. They are a wonderful group, amazing people with amazing hearts, and they will do GREAT things! But it takes money. They need funding to continue to do what they are doing. Please help get the word out - share often and loudly! If you're able to donate, that's amazing! If you're not, please just share - share - share! Follow them on social media to stay up to date with their progress, as well, and to see all the ways they're helping.
One of the first things we found out, when we started researching how to go about this trip, is that we needed to find a specific place to deliver our supplies or we risked being turned away! It seems like that would be pretty simple, right? So many people are in need of these items, there must be organizations and warehouses EVERYWHERE that will gladly receive our trucks, right? Nope...not that simple, unfortunately. Tim has been the main person coordinating the delivery location and he's been busy! We had originally lined up a delivery site at the American Legion in Hendersonville, NC - it seemed perfect because they had the equipment to offload our semi. We were going to stop there, unload the semi, and then head to an organization in Franklin, NC to drop off all of the supplies in the two enclosed trailers. That plan took a turn on Friday, when the American Legion contacted Tim and said they just didn't think they could take our semi because they had so many supplies and didn't know how they were going to distribute them all. That was a little disheartening for us all because we KNOW so many people are in need of these items right now! The location in Franklin let Tim know, also on Friday, that they preferred only certain items (the clean-up items, specifically, like tools, generators, etc.). Well, to make a long story a little shorter - with connections between friends and strangers, we found our perfect partner! We will now only be going to one location that is able to accept all of our donations - and they WANT them all! They've been wonderful to work with and we know all of the supplies you have all so generously donated will be going where they are most needed. We're headed to the Chimney Rock / Lake Lure area of WNC (western North Carolina) now - their area was absolutely devastated by Helene. Mountain Rescue NC is the non-profit organization we've partnered with. Please check them out!
Wow! The response to this effort has been OVERWHELMING! Our community, and those around us, are simply amazing! We've had such an amazing response that we had to go on a search for a semi! HUGE SHOUTOUT to Bo Trout and his company BOGIE'S EXPRESS! Bo has offered to drive his semi down with us - so now we have TONS of room for all of these supplies! We'll still be taking our two trucks & enclosed trailers, as well! Thanks to Geof for getting us in touch with Bo! So many people connecting us with other people - just amazing!
THANK YOU!!!! We've had so many wonderful people, organizations, churches, and companies reach out to us to see how they can help and to let us know they'll be donating supplies! This is not an all-inclusive list, the calls and donations just keep coming in! Thank you to EVERYONE!!!
Update 10/12/2024 5:00pm: Please check out our updated Items Needed List - we've created a new list for the most urgent needs. If you haven't purchased any items yet but would like to donate something - please purchase something from that list, if possible! We will be receiving donations at our shop again on Monday 10/14/24 from 3pm-7pm. Donations can also be dropped off at our 3 drop off locations during their hours. THANK YOU!
A few members of our A&H Team, along with Bo Trout of Bogie's Express (with his semi!), and a few other volunteers, will be heading south on 10/16/24 to drop off items that are desperately needed by the victims of Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina. If you're able to donate anything from our list of items needed, that would be wonderful! If you prefer to give a monetary donation, instead, please see the links we've provided for some ideas! Donation Drop Off information can be found below! Please spread the word and help us fill Bo's semi and both of our trucks and enclosed trailers!
