In March-April 2024, the ACE Bootcamp held in March-April 2024 welcomed a cohort of 14 exceptional participants, marking another milestone in the program's commitment to cultivating talent in the machining workforce. Under the guidance of Dr. Aixi Zhou, PhD, PE, Dr. James David Kribs, Instructor Alexander Jarrett Martin, and the ACE Team, the bootcamp provided hands-on training and collaborative learning opportunities, empowering participants to develop their skills and expertise in CNC machining. 

Simultaneously, the ACE program expanded its reach through an engaging and informative online section, attracting a diverse audience of 177 individuals eager to explore the world of CNC machining. Promoted by Triet Phan, MBA, as Program Coordinator, the online section provided a dynamic platform for participants to delve into the intricacies of machining from the comfort of their own homes (https://lnkd.in/e6bzkpj2).

We are excited to inform you that the ACE CNC Machining Certificate has been officially integrated into the AET 273 curriculum. This course will be offered in Spring 2024 as 22504 - AET 273 – 001 (CNC Machining). All N.C. A&T students from all levels and all majors can register and take this class.

Although that may not have been her original intent, America’s Cutting Edge alumna Mama Salla began laying the groundwork the moment she landed a summer 2023 internship with industrial supply company MSC. 

Salla locked down the internship after completing the ACE machine tool program in North Carolina. She describes herself as someone interested in building things. This was her first chance to envision building really big things with a CNC machine. 

“Let’s say, a plane,” said Salla, North Carolina A&T State University senior. “How cool would it be to be like, ‘I made that part for the plane?’ I like the little bits and pieces because they make up the big piece.”

Like other machine tool bootcamp participants, Salla spent five days getting hands-on experience after completing the online course. 

“It set me up for success,” said Salla.
