Contents
Skills and tasks of the mentor pair
Goals and limitations of the mentoring relationship
Design of the mentoring process
Check out a sample from the handbook for couples and the guide for mentors
Practical exercises in communication skills
Demo session at a separate time: You choose a topic from the handbook and have your own mentoring session with an experienced mentoring pair.
Requirements
If you have a healthy marriage and a desire to invest in younger couples, then your life experience alone qualifies you for marriage mentoring. You don't need a perfect marriage, just the willingness to share your experience with another couple, listen to them, and encourage them to talk to each other. Mentoring isn't marriage counseling or therapy; you don't have to have all the answers.
Goal
At the end of the four-hour training, you will be equipped with everything you need to start mentoring immediately.
Certificate
Once you have gained your own experience, you can contact the leaders of your mentoring program again and have an evaluation meeting with them. Afterwards, you will receive a certificate as a FAMILYLIFE couple mentor.
