PSHE
We teach PSHE as part of our curriculum, which stands for 'Personal, Social, Emotional and Economic Education.' It is underpinned by British Values and promotes pupils' spiritual, moral and cultural development. The new 'Relationships, Sex and Health Education' (2020) curriculum is now statutory. As a school, we have completed a consultation with our school community and all the statutory coverage is now in place.
Our PSHE curriculum:
Enables pupils to explore a range of themes including well-being, friendships, understanding our feelings and economic wellbeing.
Discusses the changes in the world as we know it. We have a high focus on social, emotional and mental health as part of our Mental Health Strategy, as well as E-Safety to balance the demands of virtual learning. We also have weekly 'Votes for Schools' assemblies as part of collective worship.
Enables pupils to engage in fitness lessons to promote physical well-being, as well as outdoor learning through our Forest School provision.
Develops pupils' knowledge of their rights through class charters using the UNICEF Rights of a Child.
Promotes pupils' understanding of protected characteristics and British Values.
Allows pupils to develop essential skills required for future employment through the 'Skills Builder' programme.
