Play Dough:

Play dough is a cheap, easy, fun way to help your children fine motor skills! This helps in your children’s hands develop the strength, dexterity, and control needed to manipulate everyday items such as scissors, pencils, zippers, and buttons. We call these fine motor skills. These skills will come in handy when your children begin to pick up a pen and learn to write!

Gross Motor Skills:

What are Gross Motor Skills?

Gross motor (physical) skills are those which require whole body movement and which involve the large muscles of the body to perform everyday functions, such as standing and walking, running and jumping, and sitting upright at the table. They also includes eye-hand coordination skills such as ball skills (throwing, catching, kicking).

What can I do to help my child's gross motor skills?

Take your child to the park and let them run! Help your child count their jumps. Play football or catch with your child. Take your child swimming or out to ride their bike. Before children can develop fine motor skills they need to develop gross motor skills first!
