On entry to school, all pupils who are new to English are supported by a daily additional lesson to support their language acquisition.
The Learning Village
The Learning Village is an online teaching tool and learning aid for children who are learning English to support and develop their language. The Learning Village offers English as an Additional Language (EAL) blended learning for induction-to English, gap-filling and pre-teaching vocabulary and language structures.
On the Learning Village, language-learning tasks are broken down into small, manageable elements of vocabulary and language structure. These build one on another, progressively. This ensures that new language is introduced one small step at a time, layering the language structure around the learnt vocabulary through an immersive learning experience.
