Children's Leadership Teams

At Montgomery the children have the opportunity to take an active role in leadership across the academy, roles include:

Junior Leadership Team

We recognise the importance of children's voice and we use our school council to involve our children in the decision making process. Each class elects representatives in a formal election that takes place during the first weeks of the academic year. All children are able to stand for election and are allowed to vote. Children are voted for by their fellow class members in a democratic ballot. We work with these children to help drive the school forward, promoting British Values and children's rights. Our school council meets on a regular basis with our teachers and leadership team to help make decisions about projects and events that help to improve the school and wider community for everyone.

Media Team

One child from each class from Years 4 to 6 are trained to use a variety of video, image and audio capturing technologies. They also learn similar techniques to those used by professional videographers, interviewers and photographers to create eye-catching and informative content. The expectation for each Class Media Rep is that they are responsible for seizing any media opportunities within their own class (visitors, special days, trips etc.) as well as fulfilling other media commissions from any other staff member whenever needed.

Reading Ambassador Leadership Team

The school's reading ambassador leadership team is made up of a group of dedicated and passionate pupils who have a love for reading. The team's main role is to promote a culture of reading within their school community by organising competitions, book fairs, and other literacy events. They also work to encourage their peers to read more and to celebrate the joy of reading. The team is an important part of the school's literacy efforts, and their hard work and dedication helps to create a positive and vibrant reading culture at the school.
