Welcome to our AET Curriculum Community

Curriculum at AET

At AET, we believe that an excellent curriculum is an important foundation to deliver our mission of “an excellent education to every child, in every classroom, every day”.

Our pupils have the right to study and acquire the knowledge that will equip them not only to achieve excellent academic outcomes but also to be successful and happy world-wise citizens.

So as a network of schools,  we frame our thinking about curriculum around four key principles or underpinning beliefs. You can find out more about these principles here

We also collaborate as networks of subject leaders and of curriculum leaders to help shape the curriculum for all AET pupils within each discipline and at the macro level.

You can find out more about our macro curriculum here or our subject networks via the links below:

Finally, as well as the macro curriculum, we align around specific subject knowledge in the formal curriculum via our AET specifications.

AET specifications set out the specific knowledge that every AET pupil has the right to acquire in a subject for a specific age group.  Schools must ensure that this knowledge is taught as part of their curriculum, although the specific sequencing and approach remains a local choice. In addition, AET schools will choose additional knowledge to supplement that from our AET specifications to form their local curriculum in the subject. We assess the content of our AET specifications annually across the network, to determine the extent to which pupils have acquired the knowledge to which they are entitled.

You can find out more about the subjects for which we have AET specifications as well as those in development on our AET Specifications page, via the link -->
