An Educational Psychologist, EP, applies psychology (the study of thinking, learning and behaviour) to support the learning, development and wellbeing of children and young people. An EP might be a good choice to help with significant learning or behaviour difficulties which are complicated, difficult to understand or have not improved with the support already in place. If you feel that it would be helpful for an educational psychologist to be involved with thinking about your child you should speak directly to your school SENDCo, Mrs Overing.
The Essex EP service also offers an EP helpline for parents which is available every Monday afternoon during term time, between 1 pm and 5 pm. Call: 01245 433293.
SAFE Essex is a dedicated parent support group that aims to raise awareness about autism and provide essential support to both autistic individuals and their families in Essex, including the areas of Southend and Thurrock.
Our primary goals include increasing understanding and acceptance of autism within our communities, sharing valuable information to improve the quality of care, and developing services tailored to the needs of autistic individuals and their families.
Throughout our existence we have interacted with numerous individuals who have sought assistance and guidance from us. Many have discovered the immense benefits of connecting with other autistic individuals and their families, as it allows for the exchange of experiences and ultimately fostering personal growth and resilience.
