NOTE: this section will be updated once we have more information about the accommodation.
Our SU will start in Tallinn. By far the simplest way to get to Tallinn is directly to Tallinn airport. You can also travel via Riga or Helsinki as well.
If you’re flying to Tallinn airport:
You can take a bus or a Bolt (taxi) directly from the airport, or a tram a little walk away from the airport. There are signs in the airport that will guide you to the bus stop. The price of taking a Bolt or a cab will depend on when you do it, but usually it is around 10€. You can use Google Maps to see which specific bus or tram to take.
If you’re flying to Riga airport:
It takes around 5h to travel from Riga Airport to Tallinn Bus Station by bus. There are direct buses that cost 20-30€, though this price may vary depending on when you book. You can also travel from Riga Coach station to Tallinn Bus Station by bus.
If you’re flying to Helsinki-Vantaa airport:
You need to take a ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn Harbour. From the airport in Helsinki, you need to get from the airport to the sea port, which is at the other end of the city. The easiest way to get there is taking a train from the airport to the center, and a tram from the center to the harbour. Tickets can be bought from ticket machines found in the stations. There are Eckerö Line and Viking Line ferries transiting between Helsinki and Tallinn. Please check the timetables beforehand to know which ferry to take. The terminal is x minutes away from the accommodation by public transport, we recommend using Google Maps for directions on how to get there.
NOTE: this section will be updated once we have more information about the accommodation.
Our SU will finish in Tartu. On how to leave from Tartu, we recommend you to fly from either Tallinn, Riga, or Helsinki. Tallinn is the most convenient to travel from, since it has great bus and and train connections with Tartu. There are also a few buses per day that go to Riga. To get to Helsinki, you’d have to take a ferry from Tallinn.
If you’re flying from Tallinn airport:
The easiest and simplest way to get to Tallinn is to take the bus from Tartu Bus Station that goes straight to Tallinn airport. If you have already made it to Tallinn, you can also take bus line nr. 2 that will go to the airport, or you can take a 30 minute walk from Tallinn Bus Station to the airport. we recommend using Google Maps to lead your way.
You can also take the train from Tartu to Tallinn! The central train station in Tallinn is called ‘Balti Jaam’ but is quite far from the airport. The train stop ‘Ülemiste’ is much nearer, at a 15 minute walk, and is recommended to take. Again, Google Maps can help you find your way.
If you’re flying from Riga airport:
At the moment, there are two buses a day from Tartu Bus Station to Riga Airport, one at 8:15 and the other at 11:10. To Riga Coach Station, there are three buses a day, at 8:15, 11:10, and 17:20. The journey from Tartu to Riga takes about 4 hours. You can also travel to Riga via either Pärnu or Tallinn, but the travel time then takes around 7-8h. But, the times for these might be more suitable for your flight times, so please do check them out as well. There is also the option to travel from Tartu to Valga (Estonia) and then from there to Riga. At the moment, there are two trains a day from Valga to Riga, so please do check if this option suits your travel times.
If you’re flying from Helsinki-Vantaa airport:
You first need to get to Tallinn, to then take a ferry to Helsinki. Once in Helsinki, you need to get from the sea port to the airport, which is at the other end of the city. The easiest way to get there is using the tram from the harbour to the center, and then take a train from the center to the airport. Tickets can be bought from ticket machines found in the stations.
To first get to Tallinn from Tartu, you can take a bus from Tartu Coach Station to Tallinn Coach Station, and from there either take a 30 minute walk to the harbour or take tram line 2 straight to the harbour.
Although bus tickets can be bought at the bus station, it would be safer to buy them online about a week before in case the bus happens to be full. Train tickets can also be bought online or on the train.
