Senior Boards are a requirement for each Senior to participate in and will be an opportunity to discuss your Senior Project with fellow community members. The layout of Senior Boards have been updated from years past. Students will turn in completed portfolios prior to Senior Boards where they will be graded by the Senior Project Supervisor.
On the day of Senior Boards, students will sit with a panel of judges and give a short presentation and answer questions about their Senior Project experiences in a job interview setting. Although a small number of the same questions will be asked to each student, judges will come up with their own questions based on your portfolio, which they will review and inspect prior to visiting with the student. After the interview, the panel will then discuss if they feel the student had a successful interview and if they would hire or not hire them if it were a regular job interview. If students go through the interview and the judges do not feel they would hire them, they receive a provisional, where additional steps will need to be taken to pass the Senior Project, depending on the judges reasoning.
Professional dress is required for all Seniors participating in Senior Boards.
*Males should wear a suit with a professional tie and shoes; if none is available; wear a pair of clean, ironed dress pants with a dress shirt, non-distracting tie, and clean shoes. No tennis shoes or work boots. Hair should be clean and neat. Make sure your pants fit well and are not bagging or too tight. Under no circumstances should you show your belly button or your underwear (or lack thereof). Don't show skin in "swimsuit areas.*
*Females should wear a medium-length to long conservative dress or dress pants with a non-revealing shirt and dress shoes. No flip-flops or tennis shoes. Sandals are acceptable. If wearing a dress, it should not be too revealing, too tight, too short, or too nice. Showing up in an evening gown or last week's prom dress is not appropriate. Make sure your outfit fits well and is not bagging, too tight, or showing belly buttons, thongs, or "swimsuit areas." Keep your necklines high and your skirt lengths long.
Again, judges will come up with their own questions based on what they see from your portfolio, but these questions will be required questions asked to the student by the panel of judges:
1. What skills have you developed that make us want to hire you right now for (insert main career).
2. During (insert main career) how would you communicate when conflict occurs?
Presentation Information:
Before sitting down and interviewing with your judges, you will give a 5-7 minute presentation to judges about your Senior Project. Your presentation should cover things such as: job experiences highlights and takeaways (Reflections), your physical project, summary of your research paper, and finish out by going over your future plans with the judges.
