Dangers of drugs and alcohol
It may be a new school year, but the dangers of drugs and alcohol are still prevalent in schools around the U.S. According to the National Center for Drug Abuse Statistics, 41.7% of teenagers in 12th grade have abused alcohol in their lifetime, and 36.8% of teenagers have misused a drug at least once by 12th grade. It is important to remember that drugs and alcohol can impact undeveloped minds in negative ways. Drugs and alcohol can interfere with the formation of neural circuits in developing minds, leading to problems such as damage to cognitive, emotional, and social functioning. It is therefore important to ensure that today's youth are not impacted by the dangers of drugs and alcohol.
