Here at NHS, we rely heavily on parent volunteers to make our music programs successful. Without the behind the scenes work our parent volunteers do, our program would disappear. Below is a list of opportunities to help your child and the band and orchestras succeed.
Marching Band season may seem far away, but we will always need help with equipment moves and getting the props on and off of the field. We will be putting out sign-up sheets for parents and kids soon. Look for that, along with other volunteer duties as the come up. Please stay tuned as we continue to grow the site.
Our marching band is requesting assistance from our booster parents to create a brand‑new field prop for this year’s show. Whether you enjoy building, painting, organizing, or simply being part of the excitement, there’s a place for you on the prop crew.
We’re putting together a custom prop designed to enhance the visual impact of the show.
How We’ll Build It
We’re breaking the project into a few easy phases so everyone can help where they feel comfortable:
Planning & Measuring: A small team will help finalize the design and measurements.
Gathering Supplies: Volunteers can help pick up lumber, paint, hardware, and other materials.
Construction: We’ll cut wood, assemble the frame, and add wheels or handles. No experience needed—there will be plenty of simple tasks.
Painting & Decorating: Once the structure is built, we’ll prime, paint, and add the finishing touches.
Final Testing: We’ll make sure everything is sturdy, safe, and ready for rehearsals and competitions.
Anyone! We need builders, painters, organizers, tool‑holders, snack‑providers—every role matters. Even an hour of your time makes a difference.
Our first meeting will be in the band room during rehearsal drop off on Tuesday August 11. During this meeting we’ll decide on logistics and build days.
If you’d like to join the prop crew, please let us know. Your support helps bring the show to life, and our students appreciate it more than you know.
