Like Freshman year logs, each log in Sophomore year generally has 5 sections, the Topic, Personal Connection, Further Development, Developed Questions, and the Extension. Sophomore year logs are slightly different from Freshman year logs, as the location of sections may vary.
The Personal Connection section is where students write about how the topic relates to them, such as an inspiration or a personal experience.
The Topic is where the majority of the information about the topic is written. This gives the reader a background on said topic and an entrance into the rest of the paper.
The Further Development section is where the student creates an original idea based on the topic at hand. This idea will have to be backed up with additional research to show how it will work. Or the student may report on new findings on the topic within a recent and credited study. However, it is required to address the reasons why it won't work, referred to as "roadblocks".
The Developed Questions is the section where questions that weren't answered through research will be addressed. The Extension can be an interview, a questionnaire with over 15 respondents, or an experiment related to the topic.
This log discusses the behavior of soundwaves on a theater stage, with an interview done with the theater teacher at Legacy High School regarding how our theater may be improved.
It is known that acne is common among adolescents, which led me to wonder what was the cause behind it. A skin product that reduces the presence of acne is made (theoretically) and discussed.
Beauty standards have been long ingrained into human society, and skin lighteners have been the result of a product made in an attempt to fit in with the standard. This log explores what skin lighteners are, what they do, and asks participants if they would ever use them.
