In the L2k Program, Logs are scientific, STEM-based papers that students wrote throughout the school year on various topics. Each log has 5 sections, the Topic, Personal Connection, Further Development, Developed Questions, and the Extension.
The first section, the Topic, is where the majority of the information about the topic is written. This gives the reader a background on said topic and an entrance into the rest of the paper.
The Personal Connection section is where students write about how the topic relates to them, such as an inspiration or a personal experience. As the year progressed, this section became integrated into other sections instead of having its own, which is highlighted in yellow. This is seen in Logs 5 and 6.
The Further Development section is where the student creates an original idea based around the topic at hand. This idea will have to be backed up with additional research to show how it will work. However, it is required to address the reasons why it won't work, referred to as "roadblocks".
The Developed Questions is the section where I address questions that weren't answered through my research. The Extension can be a second topic section, an interview, or an experiment related to the topic
This was the very first log of my entire L2k career. The paper discusses how different food groups and eating habits can affect an individual's weight loss/gain.
This log discusses a gene that is known to be a direct cause of hereditary hearing loss, and proposes the application of a way to suppress hereditary hearing loss: genome editing.
After discovering statistics regarding yearly food waste, this log discusses the reason why there is food waste and a method to reduce said waste.
