If you are experiencing login loops, session errors, or "access denied" messages, you are not alone! These issues usually stem from how our campus systems communicate with your web browser. Here is a quick guide to getting connected without the headache.
Because Adams State University uses Gmail for our core email and accounts, our Single Sign-On (SSO) system is deeply integrated with Google's architecture. For the most reliable and seamless login experience, we highly recommend using Google Chrome as your primary web browser.
Using Chrome helps prevent the frustrating login loops and session timeouts that can occasionally happen on other browsers (like Safari, Edge, or Firefox) when trying to access our major SSO-integrated platforms, including:
Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, etc.)
Blackboard
Workday
If you are currently experiencing sign-in issues on another browser, simply switching over to Google Chrome is often the quickest and easiest way to resolve them!
Switching to Chrome is the first step, but there is one crucial detail to remember: you must be using your official ASU account profile.
Check your active profile: Make sure you are actively signed into Chrome and Google using your @adams.edu credentials.
Avoid personal accounts: If your browser is defaulting to a personal @gmail.com account, the SSO system will try to use that personal account to log you into campus systems like Blackboard or Workday. This is the most common cause of "403 Forbidden" errors and immediate lockouts.
While our main campus platforms utilize the Single Sign-On system for your convenience, please note that some specific campus portals are not connected to this network. These standalone systems will still require you to manually enter a separate, specific username and password.
Still Having Trouble? Clear Your Cache and Cookies
If you are using Chrome with your @adams.edu account and are still getting stuck in a login loop or seeing error screens, your browser might be holding onto old, corrupted data. Clearing your cache and cookies gives your browser a clean slate.
Here is how to do it in Google Chrome:
Open the menu: Click the three vertical dots ( ⋮ ) in the top-right corner of your Chrome window.
Navigate to the tool: Select Delete browsing data... from the menu (or simply press Ctrl + Shift + Delete on Windows, or Cmd + Shift + Delete on a Mac).
Choose your time range: A pop-up window will appear. At the top, change the "Time range" drop-down menu to All time for the best results.
Select what to clear: Make sure the boxes next to Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files are checked. (You can leave "Browsing history" unchecked if you want to keep it).
Clear it out: Click the blue Clear data button.
Restart: Close completely out of Google Chrome, open it back up, and try logging in again!
