IDB Lab is the innovation and venture capital arm of the Inter-American Development Bank Group, the leading source of financing for improving lives in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Since 1993, IDB Lab has approved more than $2 billion in projects deployed across 26 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
ad-dice has been selected for two startup contests sponsored by IDB Lab.
ad-dice was the only Japanese startup selected for IDB Lab's "Silver Economy Challenge" presented on October 5, 2021.
In the Latin American region, the population is aging rapidly. The economic damage caused by the Covid-19 pandemic has increased the number of poor people and widened the income gap. Particularly with regard to the elderly, they are facing challenges such as an accelerated senility and frailty following a separation from the medical and nursing care community due to lockdown.
The Silver Economy Challenge was held to select startups with promising businesses to support the elderly. ad-dice was selected in "Category B (recommended startups located outside the region with no local subsidiary)" for its proposal to monitor the health of the elderly using smartwatches and AI.
ad-dice's AI solution was highly evaluated for its ability to remotely monitor the health of the elderly at home and link to medical and nursing care services, enabling the elderly in remote areas to manage their health effectively.
TSUBASA is "Transformational Start Ups' Business Acceleration for the SDGs Agenda".
It is an open innovation challenge co-sponsored by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and IDB Lab of the Inter-American Development Bank Group to support startups with innovative ideas and high expertise to develop in Latin America and the Caribbean.
ad-dice applied to use its wearable IoT-based healthcare AI service to help solve development issues in Latin America and the Caribbean.
We then decided to combine the measurement of physical data through IoT with AI analysis based on our proprietary technology (SoLoMoN Technology) to provide a solution that will contribute to reducing maternal mortality, one of the targets of SDGs.
ad-dice is focusing on Bolivia, which has a particularly high maternal mortality rate in the Latin American region, and is conducting a social demonstration experiment in Bolivia from 2023, in which expectant and nursing mothers will be fitted with wearable devices to observe the impact on their health during pregnancy.
