The Chromebook Initiative & Agreement explains Parent/Guardian Responsibilities, Accepting Liability, Monitoring Student Use, Chromebook Guidelines, Progressive Discipline, Damaged, Lost or Stolen Chromebooks, and Chromebook End of Year Return.
Amplify Science is a highly engaging science program that is used in grades 5–8. It uses a hands-on approach as well as an interactive digital approach to empower students to think, write, and argue like real scientists and engineers.
CommonLit is a nonprofit educational technology organization dedicated to ensuring that all students graduate with the reading, writing, communication, and problem solving skills they need to be successful in college and beyond.
The Social Studies team in grades 5-8 uses this online site to write Document Based Questions (DBQ for short). Students have to analyze and interpret different types of sources and secondary sources such as pictures, maps, letters, and diary entries. Students use their own knowledge combined with these sources to answer a series of short-answer questions.
The Savvas Easy Bridge App is a management tool/icon for students in grades K-8 that facilitates access to Savvas products such as Savvas Realize and Savvas SuccessMaker.
Empowering Writers is a K-8 writing curriculum for narrative, informational, opinion, and argument writing, which meets the latest state and national standards. This program provides the tools to improve student writing, enhance reading comprehension, and encourage students to become confident writers. Students in grades K-4 at AES and in Grade 5 at FMS use Empowering Writers. The digital product is called "The Hub" which includes videos and virtual field trips to enhance instruction.
Envisions is a new K-5 digital Math program that focuses on visual-based problem solving to deepen students' understanding of math concepts. Students are first shown problems conceptually, then visually and then abstractly after they understand the math concept. The program has a balance of student exploration, teacher-directed activities, group and independent learning.
EVERFI is a digital platform that helps teachers bring real-world skills to students. This program focuses on teaching life skills in areas such as business education, math, science, and health. Currently this is only being used in grade 6.
Flipgrid is a video tool that allows teachers to post "Topics" that are essentially videos with some accompanying text. This is then shared with students, who can be prompted to respond.
Freckle Math is a program that allows students to practice different topics in math. Students start with a pre-test in each topic, which determines their starting point. As students progress in each topic, the program adjusts to their level. Freckle offers over 50,000 math questions covering K-9 standards.
Fundations is a program by Wilson that measures reading, writing, and language proficiency. This program is used with K-3 students to support phonics, spelling, and handwriting skills. It also includes a supplementary activity set for Pre-K students. It can be used with an entire class, a small group, or a 1:1 setting.
GoGuardian is designed for schools with 1-to-1 Chromebook initiatives to help teachers control the way Chromebooks are used in their classroom. The aim is to keep students on-task and away from inappropriate content. Teachers are able to draw attention to specific online resources and close off-topic tabs on one or more devices. This program allows the district to block websites, watch screens, open tabs, and lock computers even after the dismissal bell if students are using their school Chromebook.
Google Apps for education are being used district wide from K-8. Students are using google docs, slides, sheets, forms, drive, meet, drawing, classroom to share and exchange work with their teachers. Students have google accounts so they can access these apps for communication and collaboration.

Lexia is an online reading program for students in PreK-5 that provides differentiated instruction in a structured and sequenced manner. Lexia has a game-like environment that motivates students in the six areas of reading instruction: phonological awareness, phonics, structural analysis, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. This program allows students to work at their own pace while targeting skill gaps as they emerge. The program has a great reporting feature for teachers, with the student-specific resources that they need for individual or small-group instruction.
The Social Studies Grade 3 textbook is called Massachusetts Our Home and it now has a digital component to support the textbook and offer differentiation tools and individualized instruction. This online component is new this year and will hopefully make Massachusetts history engaging and accessible for all 3rd grade students.
Savvas Realize is used in grade 5 with ELA, Math and Science. It is a digital textbooks that provides students with an engaging experience and allows students to take their textbooks on the go.
