The Mixed Model Line Design Online Certification is a 20-lesson, in-depth training course in the Mixed Model Line Design methodology. At its core, the Online Course consists of about 8 hours of lecture on subjects including setting Forecast Daily Volume, creating Standard Work, calculating Takt Time and resources correctly, applying line balancing tools, overcoming changeovers, creating a conceptual layout, following through with a deployment plan, and much more. This online course, can be taken at any time and at your own pace. Each of the lessons includes an online quiz.
A major component of a Mixed Model line is the design of the material delivery system. An even flow of materials to the line is the key to high operator productivity, optimum inventory investment, floor space reduction, and on-time delivery. The Mixed Model Material Management online course is an 18-lesson review of all of the key elements of a Lean material management system. It includes hands-on exercises, quizzes, and a variety of audits to begin improving your material delivery system right away.
Pass a comprehensive exam on the lessons covered in the Mixed Model Line Design course. The final exam is intended to confirm your understanding of the Mixed Model Line Design methodology. A passing score of 75% for each section is required for Mixed Model Line Design Certification.
Complete a line design project. In this section of the certification process you will download an Excel workbook, and complete the various worksheets provided. The line design project culminates in the creation of a factory layout, based on the results of your data analysis and calculations.
The staff at the Lean Design Institute will review your Exam scores and your Line Design project. If necessary you may be asked to make some adjustments to your project, or to retake a specific lesson in the course. Upon approval you will be awarded a Certification Diploma, which will be send to you in the mail and you may use the CMMLD acronym against your name. With your approval, your name will also be added to the Wall of Honor web-page on the Lean Design Institute website.
