6 November 2025 - DAY 3
Our final full day at Telunas was filled with energy and excitement as the three groups rotated through their last set of activities. The weather was noticeably hotter today, which made the hiking trails drier and less muddy — perfect for outdoor adventures.
Group A set off on the jungle hike, trekking through the lush greenery and enjoying clearer, firmer trails under the warm sun. Group B visited another local village, where they interacted warmly with local students — playing badminton, reading together, and sharing stories that bridged cultures and languages. Meanwhile, Group C stayed at the resort for a day of teamwork and adventure, taking on raft-building, the low ropes course, and kayaking against the backdrop of bright blue skies.
As the day drew to a close, everyone gathered for a memorable bonfire evening to celebrate the spirit of the camp. The highlight of the night was the recognition of the Best Campers from each group — students who had best exemplified the IGNITE values throughout the camp:
Group A: Zhao Yuanpeng & Chloe Seow
Group B: Alyssa Quah & Sung-huan Chien
Group C: Aarav Prakash & Zachary Ong
Each of them received a special souvenir from the Telunas island shop as a keepsake of their experience.
The night ended on a joyful note, with students roasting marshmallows, singing along, and dancing to pop music under the stars. It was a wonderful conclusion to an unforgettable 4-day, 3-night camp — one filled with new friendships, shared laughter, and lasting memories of adventure and discovery.
5 November 2025 - DAY 2
We had another wonderful day at camp today! Everyone was up bright and early, and the day began with a morning prayer led by Mr. Chia, followed by breakfast at 7:00 a.m. The weather was perfect — mostly cloudy and comfortably cool for outdoor activities. Praise God for such a pleasant day!
Group A embarked on a 30-minute boat ride to Kerichi Village this morning. Upon arrival, they were warmly welcomed by the village head and treated to a traditional snack pack of ondeh-ondeh and curry puffs. The villagers performed the kompang and invited our students to try playing along. Using coconut palm leaves, they also taught us how to make biodegradable keris (daggers).
After returning from the village, the students learned how to tap latex from rubber trees. Later in the afternoon, they played badminton with the local school children, followed by lively games of gunny sack race and beach volleyball with the village ladies. Though Group A lost the first volleyball set 24–11 to the ladies of the village, they made a strong comeback in the second with a 25–11 win! Others joined reading sessions with the children, and the visit ended with an energetic 45-minute dance to local music — a joyful and heartwarming experience for all. The evening for Group A concluded with shrimping along the beach after dinner — an activity that was both fun and fascinating. It was an exhausting yet deeply meaningful and memorable day.
Group B spent the day at the resort, focusing on ocean activities. They began with a short hike to the low rope course before moving on to raft-building on the beach. The students tested their handmade rafts and then kayaked for about two hours around the island, taking in the scenic views and calm waters. When they returned, the tide was low, so they explored the beach and discovered tiny crabs and shellfish along the shore.
Group C set off on an exciting jungle hike today. The trail took them past two local kampongs and offered a variety of terrain — some soft and muddy, and some slippery from yesterday’s rain — making it both challenging and adventurous. Regular water breaks kept everyone hydrated along the way. The highlight of the day was definitely the waterfall stop, where students swam and even leapt from a boulder into the water under staff supervision. Many went for multiple jumps! After drying off and enjoying their packed lunch in traditional mesh tins, the group trekked back, completing an impressive 10 km hike. They ended the day by making pizzas on the beach and watching Sonic 3 under the stars — a perfect end to a full day of adventure.
It’s been another action-packed day of learning, laughter, and discovery. The students are in good spirits and looking forward to more adventures tomorrow!
4 November 2025 - DAY 1
The camp got off to a wonderful start today. The ferry departed promptly from Harbourfront Ferry Terminal, and we arrived safely at Telunas at 10:35 a.m. The weather was beautiful, and the day’s programme went according to plan.
Group A spent the day at the resort, taking part in a series of activities including the low ropes course, kayaking, and raft-building. In the evening, they enjoyed a relaxing time playing board games at the lounge.
Group B embarked on the jungle hike. After a welcome drink upon arrival at Telunas, the students packed their lunch in mesh tins and set off by boat to the trailhead. Although the trail was a little muddy due to the morning rain, spirits remained high. They had a refreshing time at the waterfall, where they also enjoyed their lunch midway through the hike. Later in the evening, they made their own pizzas for dinner and watched Moana 2 by the beach.
Group C visited the nearby village, where they had lunch and interacted with the local community. The students learned how to weave keris using coconut leaves and shared some ACS merchandise with the villagers — a gesture that was very warmly received.
It has been a full and rewarding first day, and everyone returned happily tired after the day’s adventures. We’re looking forward to another exciting day tomorrow!
