Daniel Withrow

Hello! My name is Daniel Withrow, and I'm currently in my 15th year of teaching. This will be my fifteenth year with Asheville City Schools and my seventh year serving Isaac Dickson. Prior to becoming an AIG specialist, I was a classroom teacher in grades 2, 3, and 4. In my current role, I serve K-5 students through whole class enrichment, flexibly grouped ELA and math classes, flexibly scheduled lessons/seminars, and advanced reading and math classes for students with an identified need for advanced coursework. I support teachers and parents with resources and strategies that build intellectual capacity through opportunities for higher level thinking. I am a member of the Dickson Equity Leadership Team. I am a National Board-certified teacher of middle grades, and I am the president of the Asheville City Association of Educators. I am honored to the be 2020-2021 Isaac Dickson Teacher of the Year. I am the father of two amazing children, a second grader here at Dickson, and a sixth grader starting at Asheville Middle School.
