Mrs. Ana's Notes:
Happy Friday Families!
First off, thank you SO MUCH for your contribution, sweet words of appreciation, and all the well wishes for me and baby girl for a healthy recovery! My husband and I really appreciate it and are extremely blessed with all the support we've gotten since our journey has begun!
I've had some families ask me about a meal train. Mrs. Rigsby did set one up to share with our staff! Here is the link for any of you that are interested as well: https://mealtrain.com/v2ezww
Ms. Rachel Reeser will be our long term sub that will finish off the year with your kids! You might remember her from Pi Day! She is one of our very hard working and reliable substitutes at Claxton and is very excited to be in our classroom to continue the work with your kids! Please save/add Ms. Reeser's email for your convenience: rachel.reeser@acsgmail.net
*Please be aware that any/all communication made will be through email as our substitutes do not have access to parent square. You may still communicate with Mrs. Hill through parent square*
I am leaving a copy of your emails with Mrs. Hill and Ms. Reeser and the plan will be to keep staying in contact with you all with our kinder weekly newsletter, as well as any other updates/events that needs to be communicated out (especially with end of year events coming up in May). Please continue to stay in contact with Mrs. Hill and Ms. Reeser with things that are within their control.
This does not include:
EOY testing/grades
attendance (absences must be communicated to our office staff)
This does include:
dismissal changes
situations/concerns that may be happening in the classroom that we may not be aware of (ex. friends not being kind or safe)
I hope you have a wonderful and restful Spring Break with your family! Thank you for going with the flow with me during this unpredictable year of transitions and challenges. Thank you for trusting me with your child's learning growth both emotionally and academically. Every year, we realize how big of a jump coming into Kindergarten is for our students, but they always excel at the end and watching them continue to grow in our Claxton hallways is such a huge treat for us! Wishing you all a continued, successful wrap to your child's Kindergarten year! I'll see you all in the hallway next year, if not maybe sooner depending on my recovery!
Have a wonderful rest of the year!
Sending You Love and Appreciation,
Mrs. Ana
Sight Words
Sight words are often words that appear frequently in reading and writing, and they may not have a concrete image to go with them. Because of this, readers need to be able to recognize, read, and understand sight words almost immediately.
We have introduced the words:
I, can, a, like, you, to, and, do, see, on, we, me, he. she, the, have, play, when, of, my, that, at, no, so, go, is, in, am, for, this, what, it, not, little, here, has, was, look, be
Bridges Math
We are focusing on:
Recognizing, counting, and writing numbers 0-20. Students are also working on recognizing quantities up to 20.
Writing/solving addition and subtraction equations to 10 using manipulatives, drawings, and fingers.
By this time, students should be able to recall and write the number that is being asked 0-20, count to 50 independently without skipping numbers, and counting on from any given number.
Fundations
We have introduced lowercase letters:
t, b, f, m, n, i, u, c, o, a, g, d, s, e, r, p, j, l, h, k, v, w, y, x, z, q
We have finished introducing all our lowercase alphabet letters! You child should be able to isolate the beginning, middle, or last sound in CVC words. Challenge them to start tapping and writing out words as well!
NOTE: If your child has a particular diet or is particularly picky when it comes to food, please consider packing them a small snack from home. We base what we eat for snack on what our families graciously donate to our classroom. If you choose to pack a snack for your child, please follow the same snack guidance provided below. If this choice works better for you, we would still love to encourage you to sign-up for a snack week to help support our classroom. Thank you!
