PLTW Engineering Teacher, Asheville High School
Randall Richards brings a wealth of experience and passion to the classroom. He earned his BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Sacred Heart University. After four years of teaching in Connecticut, he moved to Asheville in 2022 and is now in his eighth year as an educator, having taught subjects like accounting, investing, personal finance, and engineering. Before teaching, Randall spent over two decades in the oil and gas industry—first learning the business from the ground up and later trading commodities on Wall Street. A U.S. Navy veteran who worked on nuclear reactors, Randall has also founded a nonprofit, launched two small businesses, and enjoys tackling hands-on projects. Originally from Texas, he’s lived across the U.S., is married for 29 years, and is the proud dad of two daughters—and a lively household of pets including three dogs, three rabbits, and an aquarium.
