Grade 3-6 Teacher Info

Content Expectations

• All eLearning Day content will be housed in the Canvas LMS.
• Each eLearning lesson component should be labeled as follows: eLearning, Date, Title of Assignment or Activity
• All teachers will have a Canvas homepages for their courses that include course name, teacher name, teacher contact info, email of ACS Help Desk (acstechhelpdesk@acsc.net).
• Specific Information for Grades 5-6 Teachers
  • Materials will be placed in each subject with a button on that course's homepage that link to the day's content.
• Specific Information for Grades 3-4 Teachers
  • Materials will be placed in homeroom courses
  • Materials will be organized by module, with a module for each eLearning Day
  • Links to other Canvas courses may be made to access assignments from those courses

Content Creation

• Teachers will create their own material lessons and are encouraged to work collaboratively with other educators in like areas.
  • Teachers should review and access modules in student view to check for errors and broken links
  • Community partnership opportunities are being explored to allow students closer access to wifi, but teachers should create materials can operate “offline," when possible.
• Content will not be created by e-coaches (corporation).
• Special Education teachers should contact Special Services Office for specific info.

Lesson Length Expectations

A lesson should be created for the following subject areas:

• Reading
• Math
• Writing, Grammar or Spelling (teacher choice)
• Science or Social Studies (teacher choice)
• Specials

Lesson elements to be included for each subject:

• Teaching or Review of Concept- examples could include a YouTube or Screencastify video.
• Independent Practice- examples could include work that you will take a grade on and could include a Canvas quiz, an Edpuzzle, a Canvas Discussion, or a product created using G Suite

Grades 3-6 Specials eLearning Day Scheduling

Scheduled eLearning Day- Lesson will be from date of school missed, ex. If ACS is making-up a Snow Day that was on a Wednesday on Presidents’ Day, the special area will be from the Wednesday that was missed and not the Monday that the students are doing the assignment.

On-Demand eLearning Day- The special area lesson will be from the date of school being missed.

eLearning Day Attendance

Students will complete an Attendance Check-In via Google Form in their Homeroom class on Canvas.

Chromebooks Procedures for Grades 3-6 Students

• ALL students shall take a device home on eLearning Days.
• All parent/guardians will be required to sign off on the appropriate technology use forms as a part of registration.
• All devices will be sent home fully charged. Carts should never be unwired.
  • Parents will have the option to purchase a charger for home use.

Teacher Expectations on eLearning Day

• Teachers will be expected to be available via e-mail for at least three hours per day to answer content-related questions.
  • Scheduled eLearning Days-9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
  • On-Demand eLearning Days-10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Practice eLearning Day-August 22, 2019

• A practice eLearning Day will be held on August 22, 2019, to ensure students know how to access assignments on an eLearning Day and navigate Canvas for students in Grades 3-6.
• A parent night will be hosted the same day as the Practice eLearning Day to help grades 3-6 parents learn to navigate Canvas and show them how to link themselves as observers for their student(s). More information will be available after school starts as to time and location. Teachers are not required to attend but are welcome.

Procedures for Scheduled eLearning Days

• Modules must be posted (unpublished) in Canvas one week before the planned day.
• Modules will be published one day before the planned day. This is good day to review with students.

Procedures for On-Demand eLearning Days

• If inclement weather is anticipated, students in grades 3-6 will take a Chromebook home the day before the weather's arrival and will be returned the day following the eLearning Day.
• Teachers will be expected to post materials in Canvas by 10 a.m. the day of the On-Demand eLearning Day.
• There will not be more than two consecutive On-Demand eLearning Days.
