This course is offered to juniors or seniors, and is designed for students who may intend on taking the AP Environmental Science Exam in May. This is a rigorous course and is appropriate for students with a genuine interest in the natural sciences, and especially in techniques and knowledge of environmental issues and problems. Topics covered in the course are Basic Earth Science Topics: Plate Tectonics, Atmospheric Circulation, Soil Qualities; Ecosystems: Energy Flow and Matter Cycles; Evolution and Diversity; Biogeography: Climate and Biomes, Aquatic and Community Ecology; Population Dynamics; Human Population: Growth, Demography, Carrying Capacity; Sustainable Cities: Urban Land Use and Management; World Food Resources, Water Resources, Nonrenewable Mineral and Energy Resources, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.
