The Cricut Maker 3 is a smart cutting machine that can cut, draw, and score designs on many different materials. It works like a very precise digital craft knife that follows a design created on a computer.
Students create or choose a design using Cricut Design Space, and the machine then cuts the design automatically.
This machine is commonly used to make stickers, custom clothing designs, signs, cards, labels, and decorative projects.
Before using the Cricut Maker 3, students must complete the online training module. This training will show you how the machine works, how to prepare your design, and how to safely operate the cutter.
Once you have completed the training, you can use the Cricut during non-curricular times of the school day, including:
Before/After school
Break/Lunch
All projects must be prepared using Cricut Design Space, the software used to send designs to the machine. A Makerspace Coordinator may be available to help if you need assistance preparing your design or choosing materials.
The Cricut Maker 3 is great for making custom designs and creative craft projects. You can cut detailed shapes, letters, and patterns from many different materials.
Some examples of projects you can make include:
Stickers and decals
Custom t-shirts and clothing designs using heat transfer (iron-on) vinyl
Greeting cards and paper crafts
Signs and decorative designs
Vinyl designs for water bottles, laptops, or notebooks
You can start with designs from our Makerspace project file library, or find designs online. You can also create your own designs using design software such as Canva.
No matter where your design comes from, it must be imported into Cricut Design Space to prepare the file and send it to the Cricut Maker 3 for cutting.
