Need an idea?
"Write what you know". This is NOT stage acting. You need to be REAL. If you have not experienced something personally, you will not be able to understand the emotions and nuances that are connected to the experience. For example, if you have never been a private investigator, DO NO write a film where you will be a private investigator. So what can you write about?
- waiting at a bus stop
- over hearing part of a conversation and taking it out of context
- failing a test
- trying to study and getting distracted
- getting an acceptance letter to university
- saving up to buy something you want
- losing something special
- asking someone on a date (and all that can go wrong) or maybe trying to ask someone on a date
- finding something unusual or somewhat valuable (maybe it turns out to worthless?)
- finding a friend in a new school
How do you come up with ideas?
- keep a notebook (or phone note)
- listen to people who are entertaining tell stories and borrow/modify them
- keep a "dream" journal
- look at life differently and find simple things and tell them in a different way (that's often what comedians do)
