Problem: Children from low-income communities do not have easy access to educational resources such as libraries.
Action: Set up a library at a local low-income school.
This year the grade 5 students at The Green Acres Academy studied about the income disparity in India. Along with studying about the challenges faced by low-income communities, they also learned about the ways in which our biases affect the way we treat people who might belong to a different income group. Moved by their discussions on income disparity, they wanted to do a project that not only empowered people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, but also changed the mindset of people coming from higher income homes. They decided to talk to people about the value of education and help Vinay High School - a low income school set up a library through our book donation drive.
