Many people can tell you that dark skin stigma is a problem in India but a few can explain it from different perspectives with details spread over history. Our students in the Citizenship and Social Change program are definitely part of this few. Over the last six months, 100 of them from grades 4-7, spent time studying colourism in detail. It baffled them to know that this bias could have a long standing impact on people's lives. Like true Changemakers, they decided to do something about it. From writing books, to creating videos and launching a merchandise line, our students have done it all to put their learning into action and spread awareness.

For all of us in the Citizenship and Social Change program, our work does not stop at this project. We are using all of these projects and the funds we raised from our merchandise sale to create educational resources in collaboration win an NGO, Saturday Art Class. Combining the power of Knowledge and Art, we hope to #skinclude many more children in this movement against dark skin stigma.
