It takes hard work to make sure your college application stands out and make it rise to the top of the pile. It is important to become familiar with the application process and getting organized. There are a lot of moving parts that with applying to college— tests, essays, transcripts, recommendation letters, —and each element has a deadline attached.
Make careful note of deadlines for each school you're applying to so you don't miss them!

The majority of schools utilize either the Common or the Coalition Applications. Outside of these two major platforms, some schools have their own applications with individualized components and requirements. Many schools give you the option of which application to submit, so we strongly recommend including application type in your comprehensive tracking process so that you can see which applications you'll need to complete.

Additional guidelines when asking for letters:
Letters from teachers of core subject courses taken in your junior year may be good choices. Ask the teacher toward the end of junior year or right away in the fall of senior year if they are willing to write a letter for you.
Provide them with a current resume and/or completed Brag Sheet and any other information they need to write a good letter. Make sure you provide them with the list of schools, and deadlines for each..

Don't forget to send a thank you note! These letters take a lot of time, so be sure to show your appreciation to the people who are supporting you in this process.
