Quarantine Protocols

Symptomatic individuals should seek a test from their healthcare provider or from a testing site. Acero will work closely with the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) to provide testing site information.

If a scholar or Acero school-based staff member exhibits symptoms suggestive of COVID-19, testing is strongly recommended by Acero and the Chicago Department of Public Health.

Quarantine Protocols

Based on our research and conversations with public health professionals, we were able to negotiate a change in the quarantine period from 14 to 7 days. This means that effective immediately, scholars will quarantine for 7 days if they test positive for COVID-19.

For schools with enrollment below 300 scholars

All unvaccinated scholars will be quarantined when at least 4% of the school's total enrollment has a confirmed positive COVID-19 case within a 7-day period.

For schools with enrollment at or above 300 scholars

All unvaccinated scholars will be quarantined when at least 3% of the school’s total enrollment has a confirmed positive COVID-19 case within a 7-day period.

We thank you for your cooperation and participation.

Schoolwide Quarantine Protocols

School-wide quarantines are not required if 75% or more scholars and staff are fully vaccinated.*

Furthermore, scholars or staff who have recovered from COVID-19 within the last 75 days and are asymptomatic are also not required to quarantine. Vaccinations remain key to slowing the spread of COVID-19 and decreasing the likelihood of classroom or school-wide quarantine.

* This is subject to change given the emergence of more restrictive guidance or recommendations from the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH). All of these updates fall within the bounds of safe practices articulated by public health officials.

Acero Schools will follow Chicago Public Schools (CPS) protocols for network-wide closure.
