Welcome to the website for the "Molecular Biology Workshops" initiative of IISER Pune. These are paid workshops that happen at two levels: basic (primarily for school and college students) and advanced (primarily for TY BSc, MSc and PhD students ). The primary aim of these workshops is to train students in basic and advanced techniques of Molecular Biology. This training will also be useful for those working in inter-disciplinary areas (e.g. chemical biology), where some molecular biology techniques are often used.
Salient features
Only 10-11 students per workshop.
Two full-time, highly qualified instructors.
All experiments to be done by every student.
Exposure to the basics of the theory behind the experiments.
Materials given include all experimental protocols.
Completion e-certificates for participants.
No prior knowledge of molecular biology is assumed.
Exclusive access to videos related to the workshop via collaboration with JoVE.

Backstory
We began our workshops in August 2019. However, after only 7 months, the world came to a standstill due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although, we managed to organize a few workshops during the pandemic, things were tough both for the instructors and the participants. We full fledged reopened the workshops in 2022-2023. The number of students have steadily increased since then. Each year, we introduce a few new workshops along with the older ones.

Sponsors
Molecular biology workshops require expertise, costly chemicals and expensive machines. The expenditures incurred on these workshops are partly offset by generous CSR grants from Praj Industries Ltd and K.K. Nag Pvt Ltd. The rest of the cost is recovered as registration fees from the participants.
